NSMQ 2022 DAY ONE OF PRELIMS



NSMQ 2022 begun in Kumasi today with 9 of the 39 preliminary stage competitions already done with. 3 contests each were hosted at 3 different auditoriums running simultaneously at 9am, 12pm and 3pm.As usual, the fun is back and the quiz is already generating conversations on social media.

Below are the fixtures plan of day one of the competition. 



Sunyani SHS, Nalerigu and Northern School of business locked horns in the first contest which started at 9am in the Saarah-Mensah Auditorium. Albeit not so impressive a performance, the schools did their best. Sunyani SHS came tops in that contest with 19 points buying them a ticket to the one-eight contest.Osei Tutu S.H.S trashed Nifa SHS and Boso SHTS in a thrilling contest held in the Kumapley auditorium with a whooping 60 points.Abuakwa State College, St. Monica's SHS and Amaniampong S.H.S battled it out in the KNUST SHS auditorium with Amaniampong clearly carrying the day with 57 points










 For the second set of contests for the day, Saint James Sem.SHS, Assin State College, and Bongo SHS contested in the Saarah-Mensah Auditorium. The Kumapley Auditorium hosted the contests between Archbishop Porter Girls' SHS, Drobo SHS, and St. Mary's Sem, Lolobi.Yilo Krobo SHS, Sakafia Islamic SHS and Aggrey Memorial SHS in Cape Coast battled it in the KNUST SHS auditorium.

By 2pm the second set of contests came to an end, St. James Sem.SHS won their contest with 60 points clearly indicating they were in the competition to win. Drobo SHS escaped narrowly from the young ladies from Archbishop Porters, winning the contest by a one-point margin, 33.Sakafia won their contest in style by taking 3 of the 4 riddles in round 5, thus winning the Goil Riddle Bonanza prize and a ticket to the one-eigth stage of the competition with 56 points.











The final set of three contests took place simultaneously at the three venues, climaxing the day with some exciting outcomes to talk about.
Saint Thomas Aquinas SHS defiled their competitors,scoring 85 points leavinng their opponents Eguafo-Abirem SHS and Pong-Tamale with 23 and 1 points respectively. God indeed is an Old Tom. Could this be a preliminary stage wonder? Or the guys are in for business? 
In a keenly contested contest held in the Saarah-Mensah auditorium, Ofori Panyin SHS, Adiembra SHS and Akumfi Ameyaw SHTS battled it out and came out with 34, 33 and 32 points. That was very close. 
Apam Senior High School displayed a stellar round 5 performance, covering the 9 point difference(33-42) in Round 4 to beat Ghanata SHS (44 and 42 points). Saint Margaret Mary SHS was more of a spectator ion in this contest- they ended with 14 points.

Congratulations to St. Thomas Aquinas SHS, Ofori Panin SHS and Apam SHS for securing slots in the one-eigth stage of the competition.
