The Harmonious Chorale held a grande concert yesterday at the ICGC Christ Temple, Abossey Okai to mark it's 15th Anniversary this year. The concert was dubbed the Harmonious Ascending Praise.

The Harmonious Chorale is an interdenominational choir established in the year 2005 under the name Harmonious Quartet which was later in 2007 changed to Harmonious Chorale. It is known to be one of the best Chorale groups or choir in the country and across the globe. The Harmonious Chorale was founded by Dr. Joyce Rosalind Aryee. She is the Chairwoman for the Chorale group and the executive director for Salt and Light Ministries, Accra. 



The Harmonious Chorale is under the directorship of Mr. James Varrick Armaah, composer of the popular Chorale song 'Oye' and others. The Harmonious Chorale choir has along the years held concerts to entertain its fan base. The Ascending Prasie which happened yesterday started off with an introduction by Jerry Ajorlolo. He then introduced the choir master, conductor and director Mr. James Varrick Armaah. 

The very opening song of the night was 'Sing Praise to God Above Who Reigns' after which the conductor Mr. James Varrick Armaah gave a small speech concerning the program. The concert was held in parts. The first part had 15 songs being sung with a song representing a year since the birth of the choir. Songs for the conert included, 'oh! SING Praises' by J.H. Leslie, 'Lift evert voice and sing by Roland Choir', 'Yennsi d3n nna was by Newlove Kojo Anan', 'Su fr3 wo Nyame by Amakye Dede arranged by Joel Aidoo' and many more. In the course of the concert, there was presentation of awards by Mrs. K. Salome Hanson to people and entities whom along on thie journey of 15 years have supported the choir so well. There was a traditional durbar display to parade award won by the Harmonious Chorale.

The program climax with highlife medley Chorale music where everyone danced and praised God. Miss. Amanda Abrokwa, a member of the choir gave the vote of thanks. Dr. Joyce Rosalind Aryee did the honour of leading the closing prayer after which the choir closed curtains with the popular Oye song and some songs with DSP. Kofi Sarpong. The Harmonious Ascending Praise ended with bliss and love.

Galamsey and it's harmful impact in Ghana.

Small scale mining, popularly known as 'Galamsey', a word derived from the phrase 'gather and sell', or   Illegal Artisanal Small Scale Mining (ASM)   has been a canker of corruption and destruction in the Ghanaian communities. It is an illegal small scale mining activity independent from mining companies and performed by people known as 'galamseyers' or 'orpaillers' in the neighbouring Francophone countries.  Galamseyers normally operate by digging small holes  that appear shallow and smaller than those of mining companies. The number of galamseyers is quite undetermined by estimation to be between 20,000 to 50,000 with over 1,000 of them being Chinese citizens.
