So many issues have popped up regarding the use of aphrodisiacs and male enhancement drugs. A lot of males especially the youth have now resulted to the rampant use of these enhancement drugs and aphrodisiacs. Are these aphrodisiacs and drugs being used right? Have they no side effects? Lets delve into that.

In 2021, a team of researchers from the University of Ghana, Legon conducted a study, which brought   to light that approximately 30% of men between the ages of 15 - 50 years who are sexually active have used aphrodisiacs at least once. 15% of these users alarmingly develop or experience side effects like dizziness, palpitations, headaches, among others.

"APHRODISIACS" are substances intended to increase sexual desire and physical attraction. They are synthesized from several organic materials and substances such as a variety of plants, spices, food chemicals.  There are natural aphrodisiacs like ginseng, maca root, yohimbine, and damiana. There are synthetic aphrodisiacs like Methylenedioxymethamphetamine(MDMA/ ECTASY), MOLLY/MANDY etc.

In medical spheres, men with erectile dysfunctions are prescribed some male enhancement drugs that may come in the form of sprays, pills, and some mixtures. These drugs regulate blood flow in the male reproductive organ hence helping to maintain an erection for a longer period of time. In Ghana here, there are quite a number of aphrodisiacs and enhancement drugs on the market, like Mr. Q, Dragon, Red Sun, etc.

It is important to recognize that sexual desire and performance are complex issues that can have both physical and psychological factors, and addressing these factors through lifestyle changes or therapy may be a more effective approach in the long term.

Aphrodisiacs may come with a lot of side effects, including, priapism (a painful and prolonged erection), heart issues - anxiety, headaches, dizziness, muscle aches, high blood pressure, and rapid heart rate, sudden blindness or loss of vision, hearing impairment, digestive issues (nausea, vomiting, etc.), Heart disease, low blood pressure, stroke, severe liver or kidney disease.

Male enhancement drugs can interact with certain medications, such as nitrates, which are commonly used to treat angina or chest pain. If you are taking nitrates or other medications, you should not take male enhancement drugs without first consulting your doctor.

Long term effects of aphrodisiacs are:

Psychological dependence, hormonal imbalances, cardiovascular effects, kidney and liver failure, loss of vision and hearing.

Is is right for one to take the drugs? It is at ones own risk?

Just like everything, though aphrodisiacs and enhancement drugs are made for better purposes, they also have side effects.

Don't you think the side effect comes as a result of the overdose?
Can you suggest natural compliments to take as alternative.
