VGMA 24.

 On Saturday, 6th May, 2023, the 24th edition  of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMA) took place at the Accra International Conference Centre. This was a night of awe and fun. 

The awards night started off with a red carpet show where our celebrities showcased their beautiful and nice attires on the red carpet. 

In the course of the night, outstanding and amazing performances and displays were witnessed by attendees of the program, as the various artistes in the music industry took turns to make merry with music. Among these were, Piesie Esther, Sarkodie, Black Sheriff, King Promise and many more. Each artiste gave their best performance as they got the audience amazed and inspired.

Among the many awards the most anticipated and awaited award is the Artiste of the year. The night climaxed with Black Sheriff winning the Artiste of the Year award.

Galamsey and it's harmful impact in Ghana.

Small scale mining, popularly known as 'Galamsey', a word derived from the phrase 'gather and sell', or   Illegal Artisanal Small Scale Mining (ASM)   has been a canker of corruption and destruction in the Ghanaian communities. It is an illegal small scale mining activity independent from mining companies and performed by people known as 'galamseyers' or 'orpaillers' in the neighbouring Francophone countries.  Galamseyers normally operate by digging small holes  that appear shallow and smaller than those of mining companies. The number of galamseyers is quite undetermined by estimation to be between 20,000 to 50,000 with over 1,000 of them being Chinese citizens.
