Galamsey and it's harmful impact in Ghana.

Image
Small scale mining, popularly known as 'Galamsey', a word derived from the phrase 'gather and sell', or   Illegal Artisanal Small Scale Mining (ASM)   has been a canker of corruption and destruction in the Ghanaian communities. It is an illegal small scale mining activity independent from mining companies and performed by people known as 'galamseyers' or 'orpaillers' in the neighbouring Francophone countries.  Galamseyers normally operate by digging small holes  that appear shallow and smaller than those of mining companies. The number of galamseyers is quite undetermined by estimation to be between 20,000 to 50,000 with over 1,000 of them being Chinese citizens.  "We have won the battle and again rededicate ourselves … OUR INDEPENDENCE IS MEANINGLESS UNLESS IT IS LINKED UP WITH THE TOTAL LIBERATION OF AFRICA."........ Did we really win the battle? It's been sixty-six years since Dr. Kwame Nkrumah uttered the words "At long last, the battle has ended, and Ghana our beloved country is free forever!" at the Old Polo Grounds, Accra on the 6th of March in 1957. Sixty-six years of governance under the black man. Though some may argue a form of colonialism still exist today, with our country heavily dependent on foreign aid, it still doesn't steal the joy of obtaining freedom (no matter how shadowed it may be) from many years of terror. INFLATION IN GHANA

Inflation is sometimes put into three types: Demand-Pull inflation, Cost-Push inflation, and Built-In inflation. Demand-pull inflation, which economists define as "more money chasing fewer goods", is the increasing pressure on prices that accompanies a scarcity in supply.
